For generations, the Fongoli family has cultivated the land in Montefalco, crafting wines that embody tradition, nature, and balance. Based in San Marco, the heart of Sagrantino country, Cantina Fongoli is more than a winery—it’s an ecosystem. Alongside their biodynamic wines, they produce olive oil, truffles, and honey, embracing a philosophy where every element of the estate works in harmony.
At the Montefalco Enologica festival, we met Ludovica Fongoli, daughter of current owner Angelo. Her passion and deep knowledge of the family craft were immediately evident, reflecting the strong connection between Fongoli’s land and its wines. Their family crest tells the estate’s story: vineyards, olive groves, truffle grounds, sunlit meadows, and bees—each playing a vital role in maintaining the balance of this special place.
What makes Fongoli truly unique is their approach to vineyard management. Unlike any other producer we know, they dedicate entire vine rows to specific wines, planting only the grapes destined for that particular label. Each row is then named after the wine it will become, reinforcing the idea that every bottle is deeply tied to a specific place and identity.
